摘  要：In this talk I discuss the Bannai-Ito conjecture which states that for fixed valency $k$ at least three there are finitely many distance-regular graphs with valency $k$.  Further I will introduce geometric distance-regular graphs and show why they are important. I conclude the talk with some open problems and conjectures
