报告题目: The Countable Chain Condition and Operator Algebras

摘要: In the theory of operator algebras, we are interested in operators on
a Hilbert space, or, more precisely, the topological algebras generated
by them. Among them, two types of algebras are of main interest: C*-algebras
and von Neumann algebras. Roughly speaking, these are the algebras of
functions on some "quantized" topological or measure space.

In this talk, we will consider an appropriate application of the countable
chain condition to these operator algebras, generalizing the concept of
sigma-finiteness to the "quantized spaces". Then the relation between this
condition and tensor products of operator algebras will be investigated by
using a set theoretic principle called Martin's Axiom.
