报告人简介:田野研究员是我校96博校友,著名数论学家。曾荣获拉玛努金奖,国家青年科学家奖,华人数学家大会晨兴数学金奖和银奖,国家自然科学基金杰出青年基金获得者,在数论和算术代数几何领域取得国际瞩目的学术成果。

摘要: A positive integer is called a congruent number if it is the area of a right triangle with rational side lengthes. Fibonacci showed that 5, 6, 7 are all congruent and Fermat showed that 1, 2, 3 are not. The congruent number problem is to determine whether a given positive integer is congruent number or not. In this lecture, we give an introduce to this problem and its relation with the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture.
