A key feature of random interface growth models in the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang universality class is their asymmetry behaviors at plus or minus infinity. One way to detect this is to study large deviations, namely the rare events that the height function is much larger (upper tail) or much smaller (lower tail) than its expected value. In this talk I will present my recent results on the large deviations for some finite temperature KPZ growth models, focusing on a deformed polynuclear growth model.
